Common Restaurant Mistakes and Solutions

We often come across a few common restaurant mistakes. From operation, staff, design, menus, marketing, and so on. Running a restaurant isn't something just anyone can do because it takes a lot of time, focus and patience. Bellow are some of the most common mistakes that occur in restaurants and tips on how to avoid them.

Hygiene
In a restaurant staff should maintain a clean appearance. Apart from working with food, they also have to show that the restaurant knows how to be professional. Keeping a clean hygiene is a huge part of working for a restaurant because the consumers don't want to be greeted by an employee who looks like they haven't showered in days. Knowing how to talk to you employees is extremely important because you want them to be aware that their appearance is just as important as to how great the food is.

Greeting Properly (Consumer Interaction)
When you first walk into a restaurant you want to be greeted with hello or even how has your day been so far? Don't ever greet a person with instantly asking how many people are going to be dining or where they prefer to sit. Although it is something that should be asked, it shouldn't be the first thing they hear walking in to the restaurant. A consumer will feel more welcomed when asked how they are doing first and not what they want. Your consumers are the most important because they are the ones providing business and profit to your restaurant. Making sure you have great interaction with your consumers can go a long way.

Making recommendations
When you work in the restaurant business you should try to memorize everything in the restaurant. Knowing the restaurant from head to toe will make you an even better employee. When a consumer wants your opinion on a specific dish, you should be able to give them the best answer possible and help them with their decision.

Staying Engaged on Social Media
Social media is the center of communication right now and knowing how to stay engaged on social media can either grow your business or make it crash and burn. Social media allows a business to communicate with their consumers 24/7 and can provide information needs instantly. When on social media try to stay focused on the restaurant and on the consumers. Knowing what to post can is important, post things like events occurring at the restaurant, or even just pictures of the food and people enjoying their time dining out.

Generating Word-of-Mouth Marketing
Word of mouth can expand you restaurant traffic if what is being said is positive. When a consumer goes to your restaurant and they love everything about it they will tell their friends and so on. If they were treated welcoming and the food was great not only will they come back again and again but they will continue to tell others about the amazing experience they had in your restaurant. Always remember that word of mouth is very important and whatever is done in the restaurant will be spread by consumers.
